Color is a feature of the eye’s perception of different waves of light. By picking up this or that energetic influence, the eye transmits information to the brain, where a certain brain center is activated, which is responsible for different emotions, for different mental states. What the love for a particular color can tell about a person,

The famous Swiss psychotherapist Max Lusher in the mid-20th century, developed the so-called Lucher Color Test. The test subject must arrange the eight colors in descending order, demonstrating that he likes more, and what he likes less. This test allows you to determine the state of the person at the moment, shows what is going on in his soul, what he is attracted to, what he is afraid of, what problems he has at the moment.

Cell vision is not available to all animals on earth. Birds and primates have full multi-color vision, while the rest distinguish only some shades. The multispectral vision developed in the process of evolution allowed man to receive a huge amount of information about the world around him. The visual cortex of the brain allows us to recognize thousands of colors and shades. There are three colors, the so-called primary colors, to which the eye reacts immediately: red, green and blue. Although not all people are color-blind, according to statistics, 8% of men are color-blind, and 0.5% of women are color-blind.

Our perception of colors is influenced by different external conditions: sunlight or electric, natural fire. The eye adapts to the light source in different ways. Some people have idiosyncrasy, which is a genetically determined reaction in response to a certain nonspecific stimulus. For example, a person cannot perceive a certain product, or a certain idea, or a certain color for unknown reasons. Some people cannot eat orange fruits and vegetables, they are repulsed by them. Napoleon Bonaparte never rode white horses, for him it was unacceptable. But generally speaking, dislike for certain colors is a rather serious thing. If a person does not like the color of the house, it can cause internal discomfort, up to and including the development of serious illness: can decrease immunity, irritability, depression and insomnia develop, anxiety disorders.

How exactly do the colors work on the psyche

The method of color therapy has been known since ancient times. For example, a scientifically proven fact: colors can regulate the desire to eat. If you want to eat less, hang in your kitchen as many paintings as possible, in which the colors blue and violet are present, or screw in a blue light bulb, put a black tablecloth on the table. In medicine, colors are used for treatment to affect the psycho-physiological state of the person. Red color can have a positive effect on a person through its excitatory properties, but with prolonged exposure gives a negative effect. Sometimes it even raises the temperature. Yellow inspires optimism. The color of cheerfulness, warmth, the sun, so it is often used in advertising. Orange adjusts to communication, easy rapprochement. Gray evokes a sense of neatness, restraint. Violet can cause anxiety, but for some on the contrary increases efficiency. Blue, the color of heaven, relieves stress, calms. Blue can reduce heart rate. Black helps to concentrate better, not to make many mistakes, focuses human attention. Green and white are neutral colors that do not have a strong impact on the human psyche. Although green is calming, it is thought to normalize high blood pressure.

But all these examples of the impact on the psyche must be taken quite conditionally, because the impact of colors also depends on the temperament, from the properties of the person. For example, there are people who absolutely do not need to surround themselves with the colors of the red group, and should replace them with shades of the cool group. For secretive people, shy will be useful to support themselves with a group of orange, yellow tones. It is better for people of age and children to keep bright and light shades in the space they inhabit. Bright color is a must for children, as it stimulates their mental, intellectual development.
